Dana Master Schedule To Be Adjusted November 2nd

Dana Master Schedule To Be Adjusted November 2nd - Some Student Schedules May Change

Dana Families,

We have some unfortunate information to share with our students and families regarding our master schedule. Dana Middle has been asked to reduce our teaching staff by two positions as a result in declining enrollment. As a result, we must shift teaching assignments to meet our updated staffing numbers and credential requirements. Some entire classrooms will be reassigned a new teacher. A few classrooms will be disbanded and rescheduled into other classrooms in order to accommodate the loss of teaching staff. Schedule changes will take place Monday, November 2nd.

Mid-year schedule changes are painful because they have the potential to disrupt the student/teacher relationships we have worked so hard to develop. Our goal is to minimize the impact these changes have on our students but unfortunately there is no way to completely avoid this fact due to the staffing reduction.

What makes the problem more complicated is the timeline. We will not have a final answer from the district regarding exactly who will be removed from our staff until October 25th. Once this information is known, our administrative team and counseling staff will begin the process of rebalancing our classes. Only then will we know exactly which classes are impacted and who will need a schedule change. Our goal is to finalize all changes by Saturday, October 31st. Students and parents will have the ability to login to PowerSchool to see their new schedules at this time.

The timing of this adjustment is challenging. Our staff is developing a plan to support students impacted by these changes. Additional information will be shared with parents prior to the schedule change date.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this adjustment.
