Attendance Counts During Testing - Don’t Be Late!

Please make sure your child arrives at school on time during standardized testing in April and May. Students who are late to school will not be allowed into the classroom once testing begins and will need to be removed from class at a later time for make-ups. Please avoid removing your child from school during the testing window. Please see below for important testing dates.

Dana Dash Jogathon April 28th - FODAC Event

Our Dana Dash Jog-a-thon is the biggest FODAC fundraiser of the year. The money you donate will support your child’s education for the next four years.

ATTENTION MARINERS: Dana Dash is back on! We have confirmed Thursday April 28, and we STILL NEED YOUR HELP! 

This year we would love to bring back the spirit of community and make this event as collaborative and energetic as possible!

WE'RE LOOKING FOR: 

1. Community partners who'd like to advertise their business and support our students by hosting an activity session at this year's jog-a-thon!

2. Parents/aunts/uncles/cousins/friends/pets (ok not your pets): any human who is able to volunteer their time and patience to make sure this event is a success for our students!

Save the Date Dana Math Night For Parents May 11th

This in-person event scheduled for Wednesday, May 11th at 6:00 PM in the Dana library will give parents an opportunity to learn how to interpret their child’s DEMI math score. Parents will:

  •  Learn about DEMI math assessment administered twice a year
  •  Explore problems students are asked to solve
  • Gain an understanding of their child's math ability
  • Learn how they can support their child’s mathematical skills

We will provide your child's most recent DEMI scores and discuss best practices for supporting mathematics. Parents MUST pre-register for this event. Click this link to pre-register prior to May 6th. A digital version of this presentation will be made available to parents who cannot attend this in-person event at a later date.

Incoming Parent Breakfast May 24th

Come have fun at our informal in-person breakfast! Principal Irwin, Vice Principal Perkins, and Friends of Dana and Correia (FODAC) Directors will share all of the exciting ways Dana parents are involved with their child’s experience at the middle level. Save the Date Dana In Person Open House May 25th

Our In Person Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Parents and students may visit classrooms, check out projects, and chat with teachers during our free-flowing Spring event. Students will be performing in the center courtyard. An informational flyer will be distributed shortly. Join us for a fun Open House and show your support for Dana Middle School.

New Lost & Found Cleaned Weekly

We are helping students retrieve lost jackets and water bottles by upgrading our lost and found located in the cafeteria. The new lost and found includes a rack where jackets can be hung up and displayed. Please make sure to write your child’s name in their jacket. In order to manage the volume of lost items, we will donate all unclaimed items at the end of each week. Missing a jacket? Stop by the lost and found today. (NOTE: lost electronics can be claimed in the office).

Congrats To Annual Giving Fundraiser Winners

We would like to thank the parents who donated to FODAC’s March Annual Giving Campaign. We raised over $1,700 for our students! The winners of the raffle are:

  •  First prize: $100 to Fiddler’s Green - Yvonne Moon
  • Second prize: $100 to Cesarina’s - Cari Philpott
  • Third prize: $75 to Raglan Public House - Tatiana Doran

4th Grade Student Tours in April

All 4th grade students and teachers from Point Loma Elementary schools will tour Dana Middle in April. Students will meet Principal Irwin, Vice Principal Perkins, and other important staff members. Students will visit classrooms with their classmates and have their questions answered by current middle school students! All tours are conducted on the Dana campus between 9:40 to 11:30 AM. Kendra Scott Fundraiser for FODAC April 23rd

April 23-24, Fashion Valley Mall

The Kendra Gives Back Event is an in-store and online fundraiser.
