Collecting LCFF Data Now Via Parent Portal

Each year the district is responsible for collecting information from our students’ families to

support the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) process. This year, the California Department of Education is allowing districts to collect information now and it will be applied to the 2022 – 23 school year. We believe that starting now will reduce the burden of collecting information during the busy time of opening school in the fall.

In the Parent Portal, we ask parents and families to complete a very short questionnaire that increases the district’s opportunity to receive funds from the state. The information is only collected for this process and will not be used for any other purpose. We ask that you complete this task as soon as possible,

Paper survey forms will be available later this spring. By completing the survey, you will not only be supporting the district’s efforts, but increasing the chances of your child’s school receiving more of this valuable funding. Click this link to view an informational letter.

We are actively recruiting parent representatives to serve on our English Language Learner Advisory Committee. Parents must have a child identified as an English Learner. The English Language Learner Advisory Committee makes recommendations on behalf of the English Language Learner student population at Dana. The committee meets every other month at a time that works for the committee members. Please reach out to Michelle Perkins ([email protected]) if you are interested in joining. We need a minimum of one parent to meet our legal requirements.

Mask Mandates & Mitigation Strategies

Reminder: wearing a mask remains strongly recommended. Some parent groups want more strict mask mandates in schools and we are responding to these groups with information around all of our current mitigation strategies. Here are some important points to remember:

  •  We are following community case rates as well as patterns in our schools and classrooms district wide.  Masking policies could change in the future in schools and the community.
  • Ventilation is an important mitigation: Continue to follow the guidance and ensure that windows/doors are open when possible and room air purifiers remain on.
  • Eat meals outdoors whenever possible.
  • In addition to notification about individual cases, additional letters and text messages are being sent out to families and staff by our contact tracing team when there is a classroom outbreak
