Dana Families,


 We hope you are discovering opportunities for quality time with your family during the remaining days of summer. Our staff has been focused on developing a meaningful online educational experience for your child and we are excited to provide you with an update on our work. This letter will contain important dates for you and your child.



We will use a two step process to distribute netbooks, textbooks, and other instructional materials to every student at Dana. 

  • STEP 1 - TEXTBOOK COLLECTION & NETBOOK DISTRIBUTION - 9 AM to 3 PM on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25
    • We will collect 5th grade textbooks from returning 6th grade students
    • We will distribute student netbooks to families who have requested a deviceWe will replace damaged student netbooks as necessary'
    • We will offer drive-through and walk-up services on our school playground
  • STEP 2 - TEXTBOOK DISTRIBUTION - 9 AM to 3 PM on Thursday, September 3rd and Friday, September 4th
    • We will distribute textbooks and other instructional materials to 5th and 6th grade students
    • We will distribute student netbooks to families who have requested a device

    •  We will replace damaged student netbooks as necessary

    •  We will offer drive-through and walk-up services on our school playground


Our team is developing a digital method for distributing class schedules to students on Friday, August 28th. Details regarding how this process will take place will be communicated to families later this week. Students will use this information as they navigate through our Virtual Student Orientation.


Trusting relationships are critical to student success. Your child will begin the process of forming strong relationships with teachers during our Virtual Student Orientation on August 28th. Students will explore their learning environment, meet key staff members, and have an opportunity to share information about themselves. Login information will be distributed later this week.

FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL - August 31st through September 4th

Our first week of school is structured to continue the development of strong student/teacher relationships. Teachers will focus on building connections with students through daily synchronous check-ins between 9:45 and 10:45 AM. Students will engage with their teacher and classmates in whole-group and small-group interactions. Families will engage in asynchronous learning activities focused on Chromebook Care, Online Learning Platforms, Communication Tools, Teacher Communication Strategies, and PowerSchool. First week of school schedules will be distributed during the next few days.

SECOND WEEK - BEGIN DAILY LEARNING SCHEDULE - September 7th through September 11th

Monday, September 7th is Labor Day. Starting Tuesday, September 8th students will follow our 3-Period Daily Schedule. Students will login to their classrooms using login information provided during the prior week.


The district is launching a new web platform on Monday, August 24th. Our new website will contain a separate “Online” section designed to assist students as they make the transition to online learning. The new website will guide families as they;

  • Obtain their class schedule

  • Attend our virtual orientation

  • Login to classes

The website will provide parents with a Quick 3-Step Guide and an Online Handbook to support families with the transition to online learning. Tech support options will be made available as well. You will continue to use to access our school website.


  • Join Principal Irwin and Vice Principal Lepetri as we discuss the opening of school.

  • Find answers to frequently asked questions related to schedules, grading, and attendance.

  • IMPORTANT: Unfortunately previous virtual events in the cluster have been disrupted by unknown individuals making inappropriate comments and sharing pornographic images. The Principal Coffee is open to all Dana families however please DO NOT post this link on social media.
