6. First Week Schedule

    • 9:45 to 10:10 AM - Login to your Period 2 Class
    • 10:20 to 10:45 AM - Login to your Period 3 Class

Students will begin following our typical daily schedule on Monday, September 7th.

What will students be doing during this time?

The primary purpose this week is relationship building. In addition, students will be introduced to some basic learning theory on Monday by being introduced to "The Learning Pit". These important meta-cognitive skills will be reinforced throughout the week and the remainder of the school year.

Students will also be given access to district-developed curriculum. Students will asynchronously navigate through an interactive slide deck during the first week. Content is designed to:

  • Provide practice for navigating digital materials
  • Reinforce basic math and language arts skills
  • Teach required technical concepts
  • Introduce socio-emotional supports

IMPORTANT: Help us help your child have the correct mindset for this work by reminding them the purpose is for students to practice basic online learning skills while being exposed to new ideas. Teachers will NOT be reviewing or grading WHAT students complete. Instead, teachers will focus their conversations around HOW students engaged with this work. How did they navigate? How did they ask for help? How did they feel when they were working and how did they use "self-regulation skills".

Why Are We Doing This?

Strong student/teacher relationships are critical to student success. We developed a first week scheduled designed to support the development of these relationships as well as a positive classroom culture. We also want to allow families and teachers time to attend various meeting and training sessions designed to support online learning. Parents should follow this link to learn about training opportunities available for families.
