POINT LOMA CLUSTER SCHOOLS FOUNDATION (PLCSF)

BOARD OF DIRECTORS


The Board of Directors for the Pt. Loma Cluster Schools Foundation consists of four representatives (one principal, one teacher, and two parents) from each of the 9 schools in the Pt. Loma High School cluster. Board meetings are held the first Monday of the month at 4:30 pm in the library at Correia Middle School. Zoom link: https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/86975057927

The Board is responsible for developing the strategic focus for the cluster, as well as ensuring that the goals of the strategic plan are being implemented. Often this involves collaboration with principals, teachers, district staff and parents. Individual board members may undertake strategic and/or task-oriented responsibilities.

The Board of Directors at the October meeting elects the executive committee of the Foundation, and chairs for areas of strategic emphasis. The executive committee consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, both a Principal and a Teacher Representative and other Board members if deemed necessary; and holds monthly meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENT REPRESENTATIVES

Parents at the school site elect two parent representatives for a one-year term. Parents may self-nominate and provide a brief summary of their qualifications; and the school will hold elections during the beginning of the school year.

Parent representatives will be responsible for representing the interests of students and parents at their respective school, as well as the cluster schools as a whole. To this end, parent reps are responsible for understanding:

  • the purpose and goals of the Pt. Loma Cluster Schools Foundation. PLCSF serves as an
    advisory group to the school district's Board of Education and Superintendent.
  • the academic, programmatic, and budgetary issues for their school site and parent organization(s)
  • the concerns of parents at their school site

Parent representatives are expected to be a conduit of information to and from the Foundation and parents. This includes communication with parents at parent association and school site council meetings, as well as written communication to parents via school newsletters and e-blasts.

The teachers at the school site elect a teacher representative for a one-year term.

Teacher representatives will be responsible for representing the interests of students and teachers at their respective school, as well as the cluster schools as a whole. To this end, teacher reps are responsible for understanding:

  • the purpose and goals of the Pt. Loma Cluster Schools Foundation. PLCSF serves as an advisory group to the school district's Board of Education and Superintendent.
  • the academic, programmatic, and budgetary issues for their school site
  • the concerns of teachers at their school site

Teacher representatives are expected to be a conduit of information to and from the Foundation and teachers. This includes communication with teachers at staff and school site council meetings.
