October 31st Parent Update
Posted on 10/30/2020

Quarter 1 Ends Friday, October 30. Students attended periods 1, 2, and 3 on a daily basis during Quarter 1 between August 31st and October 30th. Starting Monday, November 2nd, students will switch to Quarter 2 and attend periods 4, 5, and 6. The new periods will follow the same start and end times as the old periods. Remember to follow the period 4,5, and 6 zoom links found on your teacher’s virtual classroom page: https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/dana-staff/home

Quarter 2 Starts Monday, Nov. 2nd. Student Schedules Will Change. View New Student Schedules In PowerSchool on Sunday, November 1st - We are asking all families to login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal on Sunday, November 1st to view the schedule your child will follow starting Monday, November 2nd. There are two important reasons for completing this task:

  • Monday, November 2nd is the start of Quarter 2 (November 2 - January 22). Students will stop attending periods 1,2, and 3 and start attending periods 4,5, and 6. The start and end times for each class will not change. Click this link to learn more about how the school day is structured.
  • Dana Middle has been asked to reduce our teaching staff by two positions as a result in declining enrollment. As a result, we must shift teaching assignments to meet our updated staffing numbers and credential requirements. Some entire classrooms will be reassigned a new teacher. A few classrooms will be disbanded and rescheduled into other classrooms in order to accommodate the loss of teaching staff. Please read our letter to parents for more information.

Our counselors are busy rebuilding student schedules. We expect to have all changes completed by Saturday evening. Students and parents should login to PowerSchool to view updated schedule information on Sunday, November 1st.

The timing of this adjustment is challenging. Our staff is developing a plan to support students impacted by these changes. We apologize for any confusion or frustration these changes may cause.
