Letter from Principal Irwin re: Dana Principalship

Dear Dana Family,

I have accepted a position as Executive Director of Student Supports for the San Diego Unified School District. I will complete the 2022-23 school year at Dana and will transition into my new position by July 1, 2023.

I am honored and humbled to have witnessed the evolution of Dana over the last ten years. Dana has a well-deserved reputation within our community for its rigorous academic program, outstanding elective offerings, and supportive staff members. However, our positive school culture is the element I am most proud of. When I walk the hallways of our school, join classroom conversations, and sit in community circles with parents and staff, I am immersed in a sense of love and kindness. I feel welcomed. I feel safe to take intellectual risks. I feel like I belong. I will take these memories with me.

We have begun the process of selecting the next Principal of Dana. We are soliciting input from parents regarding their needs and priorities for our next site leader. Please use the link below to share your input prior to June 11, 2023. Our goal is to announce the new Principal by Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
