ASB Food Drive May 3-13

ASB is planning a food drive to benefit the San Diego Food Bank! The food drive will be a competition for all period 4 classes and will run from Monday, May 3 - Thursday, May 13.

ASB distributed collection boxes to all period 4 classrooms on Thursday, April 29th. (Thurs. 4/29).  A sheet was attached to each box indicating which items are needed and what items the food bank cannot accept. ASB students will pick up all classroom collection boxes on Monday, May 17 and tally items.  The class who donates the most items will win donuts!

Staff Appreciation May 3-6

Thank you Dana staff for your hard work and dedication to our students!

Parents, if you would like to show appreciation to teachers or staff this week please reach out to Dana Association https://dana.sandiegounified.org/for_parents/dana_parent_association for any suggestions or appreciation needs.

Students, if you are interested in sharing your appreciation to your favorite teacher, write or make them a thank you card or letter to thank them for all they have helped you with.

Onsite Students Need Clearpass - Symptoms Checklist Daily

We would like to thank families who assist with our daily health/safety student screening process by completing the symptom checklist PRIOR to arriving on campus daily. Students must have evidence of Clearpass or a paper-based symptom checklist prior to entering campus. Please follow this link for more information.

IMPORTANT: if choosing to use the paper-based method, please verify your child’s first and last name are neatly written on the document. Students who do not do this are delayed when attempting to enter campus.

No Classroom Delivery Of Forgotten Items

We have noticed an increase in parents requesting to visit classrooms in order to deliver the following forgotten items:

  •  Water bottles
  •  Lunch boxes
  •  Clothing/Shoes
  •  Books/homework
  •  Cell Phones

We are no longer able to allow families to physically visit classrooms to deliver forgotten materials due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. Our front office staff does not have the resources necessary to deliver forgotten materials for you. Please verify your child has all necessary items prior to sending them to school. Remind your student that in the event they forget or lose their cel phone, they are to report to the main office after school to use the telephone. Thank you for your understanding, as we all work together in keeping a safe and healthy environment for our students.

Planning for Fall 2021

On April 28th at the Board Meeting, both Board President Richard Barrera and Superintendent Cindy Marten clarified the district’s plans for the fall. Here is what they shared:

San Diego Unified is planning for a full return to full-day, in-person learning, five days a week, for the 2021-22 school year, beginning in August of 2021. All of the work we are doing today is in service of welcoming the students back to campus now, in the summer, and in the fall.  Our fall programming will not include a hybrid model for students and our educators will not be required to simultaneously teach both our onsite instructional model and our online instructional model.

We are in the process of developing a robust online learning program for students who will choose an online instructional model. Therefore, we will be able to accommodate students and families who choose to remain at home based on health and safety needs and students and families with sensitive medical needs. We look forward to an amazing year of learning, as we welcome back our students and families with excitement, enthusiasm, and joy.

We will continue to share information with Dana families as it is made available to us.
