From our Counselors

Dana Counselors are visiting English classrooms in May for an SEL presentation. The 5th graders will receive a lesson related to the May life-skill which is empathy and being accepting.  The lesson includes what makes a healthy friendship, practicing empathy skills, and dealing with bullying.  The 6th graders will be using the Xello platform for a career exploration lesson.  The lesson includes a survey that assesses student interests, provides students with an overview of their strengths, and lastly, a list of career matches.  We encourage you to have conversations with your students about their experiences with these lessons!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Dana School Counselor, Ms. Cox, is hosting an after-school counseling group, "Talk & Take Care," for Dana students during the month of May.  Students can choose to be in the Tuesday or Wednesday small group and are required to attend all four sessions.  The session topics are self-esteem, family, coping skills, and anxiety.  After four sessions, students will have practiced active listening skills, communication skills, empathy, self- care, mindfulness exercises, self-reflection, and self-awareness. At every session, students will earn a fidget toy and snacks will be provided!

Parents, please complete this form if your student is interested in participating in Talk & Take Care Counseling Groups and Ms. Cox will reach out to you with more information.  Limited space available.
